Loved Books from Birth to Two-Year Olds
-Goodnight Moon-
This post has been inspired by an ex-colleague who enjoyed reading “Books Children Love…” that I previously posted. Another friend has just enquired for an interesting book suited for her one-year old.
What comes to mind are these two great books, for kids from birth to age two:
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by Clement Hurd —is an American children’s book famous as a bedtime story. It was first published in 1947. It is all about the process of a child saying goodnight to everything: “Goodnight room. Goodnight moon… Goodnight light, and the red balloon…”
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle — is another favourite children’s, published in 1969. It is famous for being easy to read and contains large and colourful illustraionts, making it good for teaching young children to read. It follows a caterpillar as it munches a variety of food such as cheese, ice-cream, lollipop, lots more … before it finally becomes a butterfly. Well, for us adults, the story obviously is about the life cycle of a butterfly.
It’s not easy to describe a child’s feeling when pleased by books.

I love this! I haven’t read The Hungrey Caterpillar, but “Goodnight Moon” was one of my son’s very favorite books when he was small. I had to read it to him every night, no matter what else I read first.
Thanks! I love “Hungry Caterpillar” and very informative, too. I actually love the book cover.
My pleasure Marti. I’ll try to research and include other books for children, including older ages.
So glad to find you here.
Best, Tel
